A break is necessary at Km 249 of the Transchaco! At the end of a long road, halfway between the capital and the Mennonite colonies, 21 km before Pozo Colorado, the Parador Pirahú (Roberto +595 972 700 683, or Edgar at +595 972 389 889) is a historic roadhouse. A gas station to fill your tank and check your tires, a small grocery store with fridges full of ice water bottles, and a cozy restaurant. It offers typical specialties, including delicious empanadas, among the best in the Chaco! There's a vending machine, free Wi-Fi, and the boss makes sure the toilets are kept clean. Also some air-conditioned rooms (for one to three people), in case of severe fatigue.
