This picturesque village, with its adobe houses and straw roofs, is nicknamed the Cuna del Ao Po'i ("Cradle of Ao Po'i"). More than two thousand women and a few men work to make these fine cotton fabrics (ao po'i means "fine garment" in Guarani). Most of the families' income comes from the sale of shirts, blouses, sheets, or tablecloths, which are displayed in front of the artisans' houses or at the cooperative. You will surely find what you're looking for! The Expo Feria del Ao Po'i is held every year for one week at the end of November in the central square. Frequent buses to reach Yataity from Villarrica (18 km), by a beautiful road towards Coronel Oviedo.
