Capiatá, 20 km from Asunción on Ruta 2, has a mid-18th century Franciscan church (open from 2:30 to 6:00 pm). Its façade is not original, but the interior is magnificent, the work of José de Souza Cavadas, who also worked in the temple of Yaguarón. The city is known for its woodwork (chests, masks, statues of saints), but we will stop especially for the Ramón Elías mythological museum, located on the right, 1 km before the centre (bus 27 "Capiatá" frequent, 1 hour trip. Ask the driver to drop you off in front). To get to the church, get off at the España supermarket near the centre and turn left onto Avenida 2 de Febrero for 100 m.
