Founded in 1698 by Father Jacques Ransonier, Santa Rosa de Lima has preserved a beautiful legacy of the original Jesuit mission. There are authentic casas de indios on one side of the square. The most remarkable one, occupied by a hairdressing salon, unfortunately saw its original door disappear in October 2019. Dating from the late 17th century, its value is priceless and thieves are sought by Interpol . The chapel houses sculptures and murals, and the church has an original altarpiece. Santa Rosa is 2 km away from Ruta 1 and is easily reached by bus from San Ignacio (Plaza San Roque), or with your own vehicle from Santa María de Fe, via a good track, in the middle of beautiful rural landscapes.
