This village of 1,200 inhabitants is located in the Domfronain, south of the Norman boatyard. In Roman times, Céaucé was located near a major Roman road joining Jublains. There is still part of the pavement at the "Gué de Loré". The village was then called Celsiacum (the farm of Celsius) which subsequently gave the name of the commune. In 1673, there were 37 craftsmen in Caaucé, filming, essaying, savoring, clapping… The weaving of hemp and flax was particularly important. During the revolution, Céaucé also knew the Chouannerie. Ancient times, we still have remnants of old fiefdoms: Monchauveau with traces from the xiith century, La Bénardière, which dates from the fifteenth century and has a chapel dedicated to St Jean (xvie) and a very ancient cellar, not forgetting the lovely manor of La Servière.
