It was in the 1970 s that this former village of fishermen, situated between sea and mountain, became a major tourist centre, rather focused on tourism of secondary residences and now with fewer than 2 000 inhabitants. This gives her his current silhouette of a garden city, with many individual villas. Today, tourism remains its main economic engine, with fisheries and agriculture, especially the cultivation of grapes used to develop Muscat. In the program of a visit, its fishing port to attend the auction and its 8 km of beaches alternating rocky coves and extended sand fields. On one of these beaches, the Ampolla, is the castle of Moraira which allows the municipality to protect itself from pirate attacks. See also the Cape tower of the Cap de Oro, another defensive point against enemy attacks, which offers a superb point of view 163 m above sea level on split coast.
