When you arrive in this seaside resort of over 22,000 inhabitants, you enter a new comarca of the Costa Blanca. Here the Marina Alta gives way to the Marina Baixa. From the outset, one realizes that its silhouette breaks with that of its two neighbors. If this small town is not really the fishing village it used to be, the place remains one of the best preserved of the Valencian coast. In particular its casco antiguo all in height which gives it its particular charm. Thanks to a tangle of sloping streets and small houses of sparkling white that lead to the church square, with its blue ceramic domes. From the church square, you can see the Penon de Ifach on one side and the Sierra Gelada on the other. Inland, the Sierra de Bernia runs along the coast with orange orchards and almond fields all around. Apart from the visit to the Casco Antiguo, classified as an asset of cultural interest since 2013, we recommend the PR-V7 route to travel through part of the Sierra de Bernia. An excursion that offers privileged panoramic views of the bay of Altea. Information. Tourist Office: Calle San Pedro, 14 (https://www.altea.es).
