With more than 234,000 inhabitants, it is the third largest city in the Valencian Community, after Valencia and Alicante. If it has large factories, it is above all to its palm grove that it owes its fame. With more than 200,000 trees, it is a Unesco World Heritage Site and gives a special silhouette and atmosphere to the whole city. The small tourist center is quiet and well laid out and is also worth a visit. In August, the Misteri d'Eix song, sung in Valencian in the Basilica of Santa Maria, is an extremely popular event, as it is also a Unesco World Heritage Site. Still protected from the most intense tourist circuits, it is a pleasant city with a young atmosphere, due to its university, which is attended by many Erasmus students. And to top it all off, the town also has six beaches, surrounded by dunes and pine trees, which is quite rare on this coast and seven kilometers from the city center.
