Some 30 km west of Alicante inland, this industrial town of more than 25,600 inhabitants is located in the center of the Vinalopó river valley. If it is a center of the marble industry of the Valencian Community, it is also known for its production of table grapes of the Aledo variety and it is also here that various spices are packaged and marketed, including the famous saffron. The presence of many modernist houses has earned it the inclusion in the European Modernism Route and makes it an interesting stop. The house museum dedicated to this theme is a must-see.
