Carp is located northwest of Kanata and has been part of the City of Ottawa since the 2001 municipal amalgamations. It is best known for the Diefenbunker, Canada's Cold War Museum. It is THE big attraction in the area and for good reason! Commissioned by Prime Minister John Diefenbaker in 1959, this bunker was designed to protect key members of the Canadian government, as well as the military forces. It can be visited and features exhibits, special activities, an escape game and a haunted evening tour. Carp is also home to a renowned farmers' market, the Carp Farmers' Market, the largest of its kind in Eastern Ontario.
