A small town located at the junction of the Madawaska and Ottawa Rivers, the town's picturesque streets and the heritage architecture of the houses along John Street in the downtown area are to be admired. It is on this street that most of the shops, restaurants, bars and tutti quanti are concentrated. Speaking of beautiful houses, don't miss the one at the Grove and Gillies House National Historic Site. In summer, you can enjoy Robert Simpson Park, its picnic areas and its small beach. From there, we strongly suggest taking the Gillies Trail to Gillies Grove, one of the last remaining old-growth forests in Ontario.
