The first fur trading post in the region was established at Fort Coulonge in 1695 by Nicolas D'Ailleboust. This municipality is also linked to the history of the forest baron George Bryson (1813-1900), a political figure in the Pontiac region at the time. The architectural heritage of this epic is partly preserved, as evidenced by the Maison Toller. To learn more about the Pontiac's forestry past, a visit to Coulonge Falls and its interpretive trail on the life of log drivers is a must. Fort-Coulonge is also a popular destination for white water sports enthusiasts (rafting, river kayaking).
