The village and its immediate surroundings are the undisputed fief of the pottery in Berry. Let us remember that we are in countries like Fort Fort, a region whose name comes from its glamorous and rocky soil. Pottery is an activity practiced since Gallo-Roman times, as illustrated by the pots and potteries found in Achères, a neighboring commune. La Borne has been the capital of the ceramics of the region since 1260. At the beginning of the twentieth century, a hundred potters still practiced there. The village was hit by the crisis in this sector and had only 4 in 1950. But art ceramics gave him a second breath and today more than 80 creators are located at La Borne. They will make you discover their work, their lives, their passion for pottery. The immense ceramist past of the place is the honor of many museums to immerse themselves in centuries of crafts. The five bed furnaces are the only one in the department to be classified to historic monuments.
