Until 30 years ago, Kihei was a small town that no one visited. Today, one-third of Maui's population lives there and it is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. Despite the noise and constant traffic, Kihei attracts many tourists, who are enticed by the cheaper apartments, beautiful beaches, lively bars and excellent restaurants. There are no campgrounds or hostels in Kihei, but there are bed and breakfasts and apartments for rent at affordable prices, whether for a night or a month. Kihei's many beaches are ideal for sunsets.
