Near the picturesque Ouachita River, the twin cities of Monroe and West Monroe are worth a visit. Although they have less Cajun, Creole and French influences than their Louisiana counterparts, they are home to some very interesting points of interest such as the Military and Aviation Museum and the famous Masur Museum of Art. On the West Monroe side, don't miss Antique Alley, renowned for its antique stores, while on the Monroe side, you can visit one of the gourmet restaurants in the area. As for the surrounding area, it is home to several refuges and wildlife reserves.
