Located halfway between Shreveport and the Mississippi state line, the city of Ruston is a pleasant stop. It is known as the peach (fruit) capital of Louisiana and even has a festival dedicated to the cause each June. Its historic downtown area, concentrated around Vienna and Trenton streets, is well worth a visit and is home to the city's best places for a coffee, a meal, a beer or a show. Ruston is also home to the Lincoln Parish Museum, the North Louisiana Military Museum and Louisiana Tech University, as well as a Saturday farmers' market for a taste of local flavor.
