23 km south of Ambato, this village (be careful, it is almost not indicated) is inhabited, since the 15th century, by the Salasacas community. They look great in their traditional costume: black poncho, white trousers and big white hat. This ethnic group is famous for its colorful weavings that can be found in the exhibition shops along the road and on Sundays in the city's market. Their carpets show curious decorative motifs: birds, deer, characters... Modern in style, they are nevertheless inspired by a very ancient tradition. Beyond, this road continues towards Baños and the Amazon.
