Travel Guide El Ángel

Agriculture and cattle breeding are the main activities of this village, which is famous for its church, one of the oldest in the region. El Angel is the starting point for visits to the paramó de los Frailejones, (the most representative plants of this paramó where they have adapted in an astonishing way to a rigorous climate), the lagoon El Voladero and the thermal baths of La Calera whose ferruginous waters have curative properties. All of these sites are part of the El Angel ecological reserve, which covers 16,000 hectares. We must not forget the Chiles volcano which culminates at 4,768 m and dominates a half-Ecuadorian, half-Colombian landscape.
