Many trout farms line the road leading to Cayambe, which will be an opportunity to taste this local dish. If you make a stop, do not miss to taste a queso en hoja con biscochos: a cheese preserved in a sheet, which is eaten with dry biscuits. Sunday is market day in the central square. The spectacular Cayambe festivals, whose origins come from the Inti Raymi (the festival of the Sun), take place between mid-June and early July. In the village, you can visit the archaeological area of Puntiachil and, a few kilometers earlier, before arriving to Tabacundo, the pre-Incaic ruins of Cochasquí.
