The Valle de los Chillos is located in the Guayllabamba watershed southeast of the city of Quito in the province of Pichincha at an altitude of 2,500 meters, surrounded from north to south by the inactive volcanoes Ilaló and Pasochoa and from east to west by the volcano Antisana and Las Lomas de Puengasí. It has a subtropical climate that varies between 10 °C and 29 °C throughout the year. This valley is an exclusive residential area of Quito. There are many hot springs, which are very popular on weekends. Among them, the Tingo, one of the oldest in the valley, is dominated by Mount Ilalo. 300,000 people live in the valley.
