Between the rocks and the sea, this hamlet with its feet in the water is the main town of the deserted west coast. It's not much more than a street and, like the rest of the island outside Brodick, it's best to shop ahead if you want to stay there. Don't miss the Machrie Moor Stone Circles, a prehistoric collection of six stone circles. For more history and legends, you can also visit the King's Cave, a cave on the coastline that is said to have served as a refuge for King Robert the Bruce. It is reached via a 2 km path, starting at a small parking lot at the edge of the woods, 3 km north of the village.
