Nestled in a cove, surrounded by beautiful mountains and built around the ruins of a medieval castle, the tiny village of Lochranza is quintessentially picturesque. It is impossible to get tired of its quiet sheep, its few sailboats at anchor, its flowered cottages or the beautiful Catacol Bay. In the evening, deer come down from the hills to graze on the golf course and in the meadows. It is an unforgettable sight. Lochranza also has a distillery - which can be visited - and a beautiful golf course (9 holes). Be careful though, there is no supermarket, so do your shopping before going for a walk. In summer, a ferry links Lochranza to Claonaig (Kintyre peninsula).
