Rather than a canyon, Bryce is a gigantic horseshoe-shaped natural amphitheatre, created by erosion of the eastern part of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Its geological structures, the hoodoos - or "fairy chimneys" - are extraordinary. This chaos of delicately jagged boulders and rock needles, dominating the slopes of an incised valley, is one of the most meticulous giant sculptures ever created, whose artists are none other than the wind, rain and frost. The masterpiece would be unfinished if nature hadn't added touches of scarlet pink, orange, white, grey, violet, blue and vermeil here and there... A trail - the Rim Trail - follows the jagged plateau that borders the canyon for dozens of kilometers. In just a few hours, the first part of the trail allows you to explore the most spectacular sites. A must-see in Utah.
