With just over 500 residents, the small town of Tropic, located 9 miles southeast of Bryce Canyon City on Scenic Byway 12, offers a few accommodations, including the River Stone Inn or The Bulberry Inn. There are also several restaurants (i.e. Barbecue and Route 12 Grill on Maint Street), a gas station and a supermarket. The Heritage Center & Museum is an information center featuring wildlife and pioneer life. Canyon Rides and Bryce Canyon Mules Days, which offer horse and mule rides, have offices in the town.
