A small town about 17 km west of Monasterace, Riace retains a pretty old medieval structure (walls and doors), the pretty church of San Nicola di Bari, with the portal and part of the medieval original, and the churches of the saints Cosma and Damiano. Riace owes its fame to the two bronzes discovered in 1972 off the coast of the village and now exposed to the National Museum of Reggio di Calabria. Near Riace, the Marina is a small, confidential seaside resort with a beach and water sports facilities.
