Marina di Gioiosa Ionica is a popular seaside resort on the Ionian coast, in the center of the Gelsomini Riviera. Near the railroad line there are still the remains of a Roman theater of the imperial period, discovered in 1883. The foundations of the first rows of seats and the stage are still visible. Not far from there stands a venerable watchtower, built in the 16th century to warn of the arrival of the Saracens. From Piazza Zaleucos towards Gioiosa Ionica, after 2 km, you will reach the Galea Tower, built around the 16th century, fortified residence of the lords of the feud.
