It is the somewhat lonely heart of Calabria, 40 km from Vibo Valentia and far from the seaside attractions of the coast. This small town with a mountainous appearance has developed around the majestic presence of one of the most beautiful Carthusian monasteries in Italy. Saint Bruno, founder of the Carthusian order, established this monastery in 1091 on land granted by Roger the Norman. In the town centre, wrought iron balconies bear witness to the tradition of this craft in the region, but the lack of colour on the façades makes the decor a little dull. Finally, you can savour the popular atmosphere of this village under the flowered arbour of the Bosco bar, along the main street
