Located in Roman times, the village experienced turbulent days in medieval times. Attacked by the Sarrasins in the ninth century, he was defending himself from the Byzantines in 1040 and was the scene of a battle delivered by the Norman people for possession of Pudlia. From this complex historical heritage, were born the cathedral, a book of Romanesque style, and the castle, a ducal palace built on the remains of a fortress of the thirteenth century.
