Village north of Leuca, at the foot of the Serra di Vereto, Patù owes its fame to a singular monument, called the Centopietre (hundred stones). It is a megalithic construction, but rectangular, in the shape of a small temple whose origin remains uncertain. The structure dates back to the Middle Ages, but the blocks of tuff used come from older constructions, perhaps Messapian. The interior is divided into two irregular naves and shows traces of Byzantine paintings. In front of this mysterious monument the church of San Giovanni, characteristic of the Byzantine style, and in the center of the village, the ruins of a 16th century castle.
