A small colonial village of about 100 inhabitants, which depends administratively on Barichara. The interest of Guane lies above all in the old royal road(Camino Real) of 9 kilometers that leads there from Barichara. Entirely paved, it is easier to do from Barichara than the other way around (it goes down from Barichara, it goes up from Guane). Count less than 2 hours of walking, to be done early in the morning because of the dry heat. Impossible to get lost. On arrival, a visit to the Santa Lucía church and the Paleontological and Archaeological Museum is a must. Guided tour of the two rooms containing impressive marine fossils, vestiges of the indigenous civilization and pieces of colonial art. There are a few small local restaurants and a hotel in the village. The local drink is the chicha, made of panela and fermented corn: beware, it is not for everyone, ask to taste it before you start. Try also the sabajón, a liqueur of different flavors (coffee, lemon, maracuya, etc.) made with goat's milk andaguardiente. There are also handicraft stores around the plaza: take some money with you (in small change) because there are no ATMs in the village.
