The road 73 plunges into the hilly landscape of North Karelia, going deeper and darker into the forests. The lakes are becoming rarer and are already turning into peat bogs. The cultivated meadows are almost all turned into wasteland. Some clear groups of birches pierce with their freshness the dark fir forests with wet undergrowth covered with big ferns... Sublime! The town, once a stopover on the road between the Great North and Lake Ladoga, is worth a stop for its Karelian village, reconstituted in 1978 around the famous Bomba house, hidden deep in the forest (2.5 km east of the town).
