Föglö is an archipelago of varied landscapes, from oak forests to desert islets. In the main village of Degerby, you'll find the typical colorful wooden houses. Every year in mid-July, its pretty little port welcomes traditional sailing boats. The largest municipality on the outer islands has a population of 562 and 22 villages. A must-see is the church of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine. Original compared to the others, it was built in grey granite rather than red granite. The church is thought to be very old, dating back to the 14th century. Around it, a stone wall bears the seals of the farmers who brought them.
