A peaceful island bordered by beaches and pine forests, home to writers Sally Salminen and Anni Blomqvist. You can also stay at a very pleasant campsite, where the owner will give you information about the boat trips organized by the local fisherman to see the seals and slip through the myriad of islands and reefs. Don't miss Vårdö's beautiful little dark-red chapel, which is still a mystery. It probably dates back to the Middle Ages, as it is located on the post road. The roof is slightly disproportionate, which is what makes it so charming.
