With its 8,000 inhabitants, small stone streets reminiscent of the mythical Etruscan period and nearby beautiful beaches, Castagneto Carducci is attracting more and more holidaymakers. In the heart of the Etruscan coast, this charming medieval town enjoys a mild climate, resulting in a high quality olive oil. The village is named after Giosuè Carducci, who was born here in 1835 and is known as the first Italian to win the Nobel Prize for literature in 1907. As is often the case in Italy, the medieval upper part is linked to a nearby seaside resort, in this case Marina di Castagneto. This seaside, lined with umbrellas, is very touristic in season.
