In the heart of the Bernese Oberland, just below Gstaad, Saanen doesn't have the same notoriety, but shares similarities with its famous big sister, such as its picturesque ensemble at 1,000 m altitude (century-old wooden houses, painted frescoes in the Saint-Maurice church), and still gave its name to the country. The village is authentic, with numerous craft stores. To reach Saanen, take the Montreux-Oberland bernois (MOB) train from Montreux towards Château-d'Œx. There is a bus service from Les Diablerets to Gstaad via Gsteig. From Gstaad, take the MOB train.
