Phyto is the main city of the island, although it does not air it. The population is much more indigenous than in Moyogalpa, and indeed in fact more friendly. In the past, the site was divided between two clans: the Aztagalpa and the Cosonigalpa, separated by the current route from the central square to the cemetery. After relentless altercations, the Cosonigalpa had moved to the present village of San José del Sur. There are some very basic andalusia, but travellers usually prefer to stay in other parts of the island.
