Located at the end of the Eidsfjorden, a branch of the gigantic Nordfjorden, Nordfjordeid is renowned as a very touristy town, thanks to its privileged position in the fjords. In addition to its magnificent setting, the town is famous for two reasons: the mathematician Sophus Lie was born here (he devised the theory of continuous symmetry, which he applied to geometry and differential equations), and this is where you'll find the largest number of Norwegian horse farms of the fjord breed. Numerous opportunities for beautiful hikes in the surrounding area. The town is also famous for its opera company, the Nordfjord Opera Company.
