The center of Sandane is relatively modern, but some historic buildings remain, such as the Heradshuset med et fireveis klokketårn ("the tower with the four clocks") or the Gloppen Hotel, one of the country's "historic hotels". Situated between fjords and mountains, Sandane is a town close to nature. Sandane is the administrative center of the Gloppen municipality in Vestland county. At the far end of Gloppefjorden, Sandane is reached via the E39 road. In June of each year, the famous Glopperock takes place, Norway's oldest rock festival
