Nærøyfjord (literally, the Narrow Fjord) is the wildest and most beautiful arm of the Sognefjord, and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005. It is 18 kilometers long and only 500 meters wide in places! The Nærøydalselvi river flows down the Nærøydalen valley into the fjord at the village of Gudvangen, near the E16 freeway. It has been ranked by National Geographic as the world's No. 1 natural heritage site, along with Geirangerfjord. You can cruise here in a unique setting, with steep, snow-capped mountains, waterfalls and farms clinging to the mountainsides.
