This town of around 2,500 inhabitants is a major tourist destination in Norway. The landscape has a lot to do with it: the region boasts some of the highest mountains in the country, with peaks reaching 2,469 m in altitude. Lom is also the gateway to the magnificent Jotunheimen National Park. Here, you can get information on hiking trails, gear up for an expedition, and even take a tour of the Norwegian Mountain Museum. You can also see one of Norway's 28 remaining standing wooden churches. In Old Norse, Lóm means pasture.
