Fagernes is a quiet little town of around 1,800 inhabitants on the shores of Strondafjorden. In fact, it's the most important town in the Valdres valley, and a must-see because it's so much fun. This is where you'll find one of the country's most famous tourist attractions: the Jotunheimen National Park, made up of a chain of 26 mountains. Its name comes from an expression meaning "home of the giants". Fagernes is a good stopover on your journey, offering all amenities in a pleasant setting. In winter, it's all covered in a blanket of white, to the delight of skiers!
