Hardangerfjord is the name of the fjord that stretches 179 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean in the west to the Hardangervidda plateau. It is the country's second-largest fjord, and the fifth-largest in the world. The fjord passes through numerous municipalities and varied landscapes: steep cliffs that plunge into the fjord, the Folgefonna glacier, summer ski resorts, the panoramic Hardanger road, waterfalls so impressive they're impossible to count, wonder valleys that boast Norway's prettiest orchards, which blossom in spring and bear fruit in autumn? A splendid region!
