Travel Guide Touho

A commune of 2,087 inhabitants (Tu Cèmurî, in Kanak), the village extends all along the sea. At the mouth of the wonderful Kone-Tiwaka Cross-Channel, Touho is an important crossing point on the east coast. Its central position between Hienghène and Poindimié makes it an interesting base for exploration and the work of Point I makes it possible to participate in several tribal activities. Following the road to the north, rest areas are provided to take the time to enjoy the beauty of the landscape. In terms of history, the missionaries settled here in 1852, before the commune took shape in 1884. From its past, you can still visit the ruined military fort, in service until 1916. The colonnar pine tree of the port was planted in 1870 by the Tiwaka tribal chief to celebrate the first mixed union in the region.
