A good portion of Maputo's workers live there just across the street from the center. The construction of the large Maputo-Catembe bridge inaugurated in 2018 has revolutionized their lives. Now you can reach Catembe in 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the road and time(chapa station Baixa or cab). People come here to see Maputo in panoramic mode, from the other side of the bay. On weekends, the young people of Maputo come here to the beach with transistor and cooler. To go for a walk in Catembe is to stroll in its peaceful and sandy streets, to discover the life of a city-village, to breathe the atmosphere of the terraces or to dance in a bar, especially on Sunday evening.
