The eastern part of Rovigo province forms a singular ecological environment: the Po delta. This region, from the mouth of the Adige River, 15 km from Chioggia, to Of, 60 km south of Chioggia, is bounded to the north by Rosolina Mare and to the south by the Century di Scardovari (between Gorino and Gnocca). It is a recent swamp of training, created by the sedimentation of debris transported by rivers and transformed by sanitation from the th century. A constantly changing area, because river deposits increase the volume of 60 hectares every year. The main river inputs are those of the main Italian river, the Po, which in this region is divided into six branches: Po de Levente, Po de Maistra, Po de Pila (with the mouths of Scirocco and Tramontana), Po de Tolle, Po de Gnocca and Po de Goro, which is the delta of this large and powerful river. A territory spanning 400 km and affecting nine communes (Adria, Ariano Polesine, Corbola, Loreo, Papozze, Porto Viro, Porto Tolle, Rosolina, Taglio di Po) in the province of Rovigo, forming with the Polesine region. It is a classified reserve area and one of the largest natural parks in Italy. It is a strange, almost enchanting landscape surrounded by light fog and consists of basins, canals, swamps, pine forests and thousands of different birds and animal species. Here the water dominates: water from the sea, rivers, canals and lagoons. Particular flora and fauna make this region of Veneto a very delicate ecosystem, particularly with regard to its ornithological heritage made up of birds of water: White, black or red herons, shrikes, crested, curlew, butors, woodcock, marais hawks, wild ducks, as well as weasel, black, otters, moles and hedgehogs. The flora is also very varied: sand dunes are the area of graminacées and asparagus, while near the water ponds, rushes of all kinds, house, maritime artémises and, on the edges of rivers, poplars and aubépines, grow. The ichthyological wealth of this region is not less: in fact, the tides promote an abundance of carp, sea urchins, pike, bars and tanches. The fishing funds are punctuated with casoni, these small wooden and reed boxes, typical constructions of the zone and point of reference of the fishermen. This environment is ideal for those who love nature and, above all, wild nature, the ideal place for fishing or bird watching, for horse riding or cycling and boat cruises. In this almost "immaculate" nature, there is a traditional cuisine, simple but rich in flavours and perfumes, which will be served in the many osterie and bacari of the region. Finally, this huge natural reserve does not lack cultural and historical attractions, such as the Town of Adria, which is considered the gateway to the Po Delta and one of the oldest cities in Veneto.
