The island has become a favourite for the second homes of some of the mainland's most famous people. When evening comes, don't expect rhythmic and illuminated attractions. Don't be frightened by the very commercial side of the ferry terminal area either. It is not representative of the rest of the island. As you move away from it, the forest and the calmness take over. Also reachable by ferry from the main ports of Vancouver and Victoria, the island can be explored at your own pace by bike, foot or car. The absence of a bank and the small shops will oblige you to bring some change.
