Originally, the area is populated by Mariches Indians. They are fighting with courage and courage against them under the command of the leaders Aricabacuto and Tapiaracay, who are themselves commanded by the great Cacique Tamanaco. In 1752, landed Don Baltasar de León García. It built a chapel of land covered with a roof of palm leaves, known today as the Capelle of El Calvario. Don Baltasar fought at that time to make El Hatillo an independent village of Baruta. His wife, Ana Francisca Pérez García, then assists children, the elderly, the sick and the needy. It offers large amounts of money for the construction of a hospital in Petare following the terrible earthquake in 1812. A hospital bears its name: Hospital Pérez de León de Petare. This small colonial village, 15 km from the centre of Caracas, is now a destination on weekends. Despite its proximity to the megalopolis, the village kept its pace quiet. The best thing is to start walking from Place Bolívar. His church, built in 1784, gives a better impression from outside, since it was restored. We will appreciate the obsolete charm of colonial houses in classified architecture, quiet colours, flowers, casual smiles… A charmantissime break in what is one of the country's most beautiful "cities". Shopping opportunities - like the specialist of Céramiques y Fuego ceramics (Calle C) - are excellent (although not cheap) while coffee and restaurants are legion and often very good. Between October and November, a music festival takes place and lasts ten days. Just next door is the district of La Lagunita, where the splendid villas seem to indicate a higher social status than the average… Recently El Hatillo has dressed up large commercial malls. A of a the colonial party (complaining), the city allows you to combine today's old and shopping.
