It is an atypical village in Gran Sabana, with a population of 300. It consists of Pémons Indians, miners and others who decided to leave the city (Caracas) in the 1960 s and live an alternative existence. Since then, they have been joined by a number of foreigners coming from Europe, North America and other Latin American countries, giving this remote corner the honor of being the most cosmopolitan village in the Orinoco and Amazon basins! You can appreciate this uniqueness in the architecture that has developed there over the years, local crafts and the importance of education and culture in the lives of its inhabitants. Small-scale mining of gold and diamonds, tourism, handicrafts and beekeeping are the region's main economic activities. Pauji is an aggressive bird (Crax nigra), paví in wayúu language, paradox no?
