Over the centuries, the city of Fano has been enriched with many valuable monuments, especially under the impulse of the rich Malatesta family. It is a pleasure to stroll through the narrow streets of the historic centre, especially on the second weekend of each month, when a giant flea market brings the heart of Fano to life. As for the beach, the local pride comes from the quality of the water, which has been awarded the European Blue Flag as well as the "three sails" awarded by the Italian environmental association Legambiente. Two beaches are divided by the town's harbour: to the west, a beautiful stretch of fine sand; to the east, the sassonia, a pretty pebble beach
