Home of Giacomo Leopardi (1798-1837), the town, located 21 km north-east of Macerata, was the setting for the inspiration of this great poet. The Casa Leopardi, which you can visit, has remained unchanged: the portraits of his ancestors on the walls, his books, his first verses. The best time to come to Recanati is at the end of June, to avoid the flood of school groups on cultural visits.
